After decades, Motorola came back to Vietnam - now a battlefield where every smartphone brand flexes for attention. The initial brief for pre-launch was unbelievably open. No message. No keyword. No product. Just get people talk about Motorola.
I got lucky.
Vietnamese love visual pun. It's a huge part of our meme culture. The trickier the pun, the funnier. Motorola got lucky too because this idea didn't choose iPhone, Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, etcetera. It chose Motorola. The brand name itself is already a visual pun running on two wheels, and in Vietnam, street vendors hustling on motorbikes are everywhere.
